Forty Boston College students who occupied two administration offices last. Friday demanding equal treatment for women at B. C. have begun negotiations with university officials. A court order barring further student occupations remains in effect.

The Women's Action Committee and B.C. administrators reportedly made some progress at a three-and-one-half hour meeting Monday afternoon.

Yesterday, Superior Court Judge Frank W. Tomasello dissolved the temporary restraining order only to reverse his decision a few minutes later and give the university a broadened preliminary injunction.

Tom sell said that he changed his mind when the 30 students in the courtroom "giggled as though it was a joke" after he announced his initial decision. "They've got to start acting grown up." he said, A woman student present attributed the reaction to "relief."

A student spokeswoman said that the original restraining order was issued after attorneys for both the university and the students had learned that the two offices had been vacated.
