Sporting an unscored-upon defense and a 7-0 record, the nationally topranked Crimson warms up today in Providence for next Saturday's showdown against the second-ranked Yale Daily.
In this week's College Newspaper Sportswriters' poll, the Crimson picked up 51 first-place votes to the Daily's 49. Yale has been hot on the heels of the Crimson all year, moving from seventh to second in the first seven weeks of the schedule.
"The Daily always tries to run up those big scores, but the sportswriters aren't buying," beamed the Crime's player-coach Rapid Robert Gerlach. "However, the polls are incorrect anyway. We'll get all the number-one votes after next Saturday," asserted Gerlach.
The Crimson should face little opposition this afternoon against the winless Brown Daily Herald.
"We'll just go down there, get our three touchdowns and a safety, maybe even give them a safety, and shake hands when it's over," said the Crime's split end Rob "Hands" Eggert. "We don't try to rub anybody's face in the mud."
