Defending champion Harvard regained the top ranking in the weekly New England Intercollegiate soccer ratings after opening its season with a 5-0 thrashing of MIT. The Crimson received 10 of a possible 12 first place votes.
Brown slipped to second after smashing Boston University, 5-0, and losing badly to Penn, 6-1. Two New England coaches still rated Brown above Harvard.
