Bomb Scare Closes Lamont

A telephoned bomb threat caused the evacuation and temporary closing of Lamont Library yesterday afternoon. It was the second bomb scare received this semester by Lamont.

Suzanne Jackson, secretary to the librarian of Lamont, received the call at about 3:05 p.m. yesterday. Jackson said a young, male voice informed her that a bomb would explode in Lamont during the afternoon.

Jackson reported the call to Sharon Hamby, administrative assistant for Lamont Library, who notified University police. Following usual procedure, University police informed the Cambridge fire and police departments of the threat.

Although a visual search by police revealed no bomb. Theodore G. Alevizos, librarian of Lamont, closed the building until 5 p.m.

Lamont received its first bomb scare of the semester on October 12.
