Chasey and Marinaro to Share Cup For Ivy League Football's M.V.P.

Jim Chasey and Ed Marinaro have been named co-winners of the first annual Asa S. Bushnell Cup for the Ivy League's player of the year in football.

The award was presented by ECAC football officials to the league's top player in memory of the recently retired director of the ECAC. The award is based on "sportsmanship, leadership, competitive spirit, contribution to his team, and his accomplishments on the field."

Chasey, a senior, was the quarterback for Dartmouth's undefeated Ivy champions this year and helped the Indians to a share of the league title the year before. He finished second to Penn's Pancho Micir in total offense and passing and ranked first in passing percentage.

Marinaro, who was named to the All-American second team, is only a junior at Cornell. He won the national rushing title, based this year for the first time on yardage gained per game rather than on total yardage.

In the runoff election to determine the winner of the Bushnell award, both Chasey and Marinaro earned four of the eight votes.
