Still undefeated after four matches and a tournament, the Harvard water polo team overcame a slow start against M. I. T. and went on to sweep the first Greater Boston Water Polo Tournament last Saturday.

In their eagerness to take a quick lead in their opener against M. I. T., the Harvard players took bad shots from long distances and ended up with an insecure 2-1 edge at the end of one period.

The Crimson settled down for the remainder of the contest, however, and finished-off the Engineers 16-6 Harvard then defeated Northeastern 22-6 to post the best record in the four team field and take the tournament.

Harvard's high-scorer, Dave Powlison, contributed six goals in the Northeastern game, but two players, Tom McGill and Leland Faust, surpassed him. McGill-who picked up five against Northeastern-netted six against M. I. T., while Faust thrilled his wife and the six other spectators with seven goals against the Huskies.

Goalie Jim Babcock led the defense. He held off M. I. T. while the Crimson offense tried to find the range and then allowed only one goal in the two periods he played against Northeastern. Guard Zoe Rennard, a former All-American, also played well defensively.

Harvard has not lost a water polo game in over a year. The New York Athletic Club defeated the Crimson to take third place in the AAU national championship last year, but no one has come close to Harvard since then.
