Juche Hearing Is Today

Seven members of the Juche collective will stand trial Friday, December 18, on charges stemming from a police raid on their home November 17.

Lawyers for the collective will attend a Third District Court hearing today to attempt to recover property which Cambridge police allegedly took during the raid.

Charges against the group include "knowingly being in the presence of narcotics," and "illegal possession of shotguns, firearms, and ammunitions without a firearms license or identification."

The seven will plead not guilty on all charges. Judith Remcho, one of the group's lawyers, said yesterday.

The group-the Cambridge People's Information Center-publishes Juche, a radical newspaper for the Cambridge and Boston area.

One member of the collective said yesterday that the group definitely did not want any sort of disruption at the trial. "We just don't want any more people to get arrested," he said.

Commenting on today's hearing on the alleged property loss during the raid, William P. Homans Jr. '41, another of the group's attorneys, said that "a lot more was carried out-like record players and books-than what was listed on the return on the warrant."
