Squash Team Demolishes Lord Jeff Racquetmen, 9-0

Anticipating a serious threat to its undefeated record, the Harvard varsity squash team played superbly yesterday and trounced a good Amherst team, 9-0. Seven Crimson players swept their matches in three straight games.

"We played a tremendous match," coach Jack Barnaby said, "Amherst played very well, but our boys were peaked for this match."

The closest contest of the day came at number one, where junior Dave Fish rallied to sweep the final three games of a four-game match against Amherst's Mike Pelletier.

The Lord Jeff southpaw started very fast and Fish appeared on his way to the first Crimson defeat of the year. But at 8-9 of the second game. Fish made several tremendous volleys, moving his opponent all over the court before Pelletier embarrassed himself by whiffing on a shot off the back wall.

Fish took the next six points and the third game, and after the break he rushed to a 5-0 lead. Pelletier tied the game at 9-9, but Fish recovered and won the final six points.
