Freshmen Skate Past Brown, 9-1

Led by Dave Hynes's third four-goal production in the last four games and Jay Riley's hat trick, the freshman hockey team trounced Brown for the second time this year, 9-1.

"We came to play hockey, and they came to drive us physically out of the rink," said Harvard coach Bill Cleary in summing up his team's success. "We kept our heads and played a cool game," he added.

Harvard constantly pressured the Bruin goalie, raining 44 shots on him, while allowing Brown only 22.

The Yardlings got off to a fast start when Hynes flicked in a goal off a pass from Steve Harris at 0:59. Harrison Reynolds fished a loose puck out of a scramble in front of the Bruin net and knocked it in at 3:50. Riley tallied twice to complete the first-period scoring.

Hynes poked in two more in the second period, and Riley, Hynes, and Sam Campbell tallied in the last period.
