Harvard's disappointing three-point loss to Dartmouth Wednesday night dropped the Crimson into a last-place tie with Brown.

While Harvard and Brown rest at the bottom with 0-4 records, undefeated Columbia and Penn are tied for the top spot in the league with four wins apiece. They will play each other February 2 at New York and February 27 at Philadelphia.

"I think we've earned some respect." said Penn coach Dick Harter, whose team was expected to be a contender but has turned out to be a better than most anticipated. The Quakers have not started an Ivy season so well since 1965-66.

No Surprise

Columbia's success is no surprise. Rhodes Scholar Heyward Dotson and Jim McMillian are first and third among league scorers. But the Lions have not had much opposition yet and were almost upset by Yale.

Princeton has probably been the most disappointing team. The Tigers were thought to be the primary title contender, but co-captain Jeff Petrie was injured earlier in the season, and Princeton has already lost twice to Penn. Dartmouth's win Wednesday enabled the Indians to tie Princeton for fourth place.
