A Democratic Party Commission studying possible reforms of the party will hold hearings in Boston this Thursday.

The so-called McGovern Commission is holding the one-day hearings to allow Democrats from the New England states to recommend changes in the party's state and national procedures and delegate selection methods.

Among those who will testify are John Elder, assistant dean of the Divinity School, and chairman of Mass. Citizens for Participation in Politics, as well as Richard M. Neustadt '69.

An informal meeting will be held on the steps of Widener Library at 4 p.m. today for those interested in giving ideas to the scheduled witnesses for presentation to the commission, Neustadt said yesterday.

The commission, headed by Sen. George McGovern (D.-S.D.) was established by the 1968 convention. Sen Harold Hughes (D-Iowa), vice-chairman of the commission, will preside at the Boston hearings.

To date, almost 400 witnesses from 38 states have testified at the various public hearings held by the commission.
