TWO CRIMSON executives have won the 1969 Dana Reed awards for "distinguished writing in student publications of Harvard College."
James M. Fallows '70, president of the CRIMSON, won the $250 first prize for his series of articles last fall on civil rights work in Mississippi and Alabama.
Nicholas Gagarin '70, the CRIMSON's executive editor, received honorable mention for his four-part series on the Esalen Institute in California. Gagarin's articles appeared in February.
The prizes are given annually in honor of Dana Reed '43. Reed, who was an officer of the Harvard Album, the CRIMSON, and other student publications as an undergraduate, was killed in European war action in 1944.
