Harvard's Yardling nine faces Dartmouth's heralded pitching ace Pete Broberg today at 3 p.m. at Soldiers' Field. It may prove to be the most interesting intercollegiate baseball game in Boston this Spring.

Although the Crimson freshmen dropped their first game yesterday, 13-10, to Northeastern, they have kept their run-scoring average near 11. Twice this season the team has driven in eight runs in one inning.

The Yardling infield has a composite batting average of .355. Second baseman Vince McGugan is the leading hitter with a .429 average and two home runs against M.I.T.

3-0 Record

After 24 innings of pitching, Broberg has struck out 49 batters and compiled a 3-0 record. The freshman star opened the season with an 11-1 no-hit victory over Norwich when he struck out 17. In an appearance against Vermont, he struck out 16 hitters, and repeated this performance in a game with Worcester Academy.

An all-around athlete, Broberg also leads the Indians with a .600 batting average, including a grand slam against Norwich and two home runs off Worcester pitchers.
