Skaters Take On Tigers; Trail Cornell by 4 Points

Harvard's varsity hockey team, currently entrenched in second place in Ivy League standings, takes to the ice tonight in a league contest against a below-average Princeton team that shouldn't give the Crimson six much trouble.

Princeton has experienced its problems this year, registering a 2-13 record in all games so far. The Tiger icemen are still looking for their first Ivy victory.

The Crimson, on the other hand, has returned to action following exams, scoring a 6-1 victory over Penn last Saturday night and adding an 8-4 triumph over Northeastern in the first round of the Beanpot tournament Monday night.

Lineups Change

Coach Cooney Weiland has been experimenting with several lineup changes and the Crimson should be strengthened by the return of junior defenseman Terry Flaman, a second unit performer last season who had to sit out the first semester. George McManama, who has been playing defense for most of the season, is expected to move onto one of the forward lines if Flaman plays.

In this week's Ivy League statistics, the Crimson find themselves with a 6-1 record, trailing unbeaten Cornell by four points. The Big Red boosted their league record to 8-0 with identical 11-2 victories over Dartmouth and Yale last weekend.

Sensational sophomore center Joe Cavanagh is in second place in the Ivy scoring race with 20 points, trailing Cornell's forward Brian Cornell by eight points. Linemate Steve Owen is the only other Crimson player among the top eight scorers.

The Crimson will face off again Monday night in the finals of the Beanpot against Boston University, a team which shut out Princeton 6-0 earlier this year.
