Jeff Petrie, Princeton's All-East basketball player and co-captain, played his first game of the season Wednesday night and scored 20 points in a 67-60 victory over Navy at Annapolis.
Petrie has a ruptured disk in his back, and it was thought that he might miss the entire season, probably costing his team the Ivy title. In a copyrighted story two weeks ago, the Daily Pennsylvanian reported that he would definitely miss the entire season. The reporter learned this through an interview with Petrie's mother.
Started Running
He has been receiving medication and started running last week. But Petrie had not practiced for three or four weeks before Wednesday's contest, and he tired late in the game. He made eight of 19 field goal attempts.
The revitalized Tigers next play on Dec. 27 in the UCLA Tournament.
