YAF Votes to Fight NAC Non-Violently

The M. I. T. chapter of Young Americans for Freedom voted last night to picket non-obstructively and leaflet in response to an expected demonstration by the November Action Coalition Tuesday at M. I. T.

Sources at Harvard said that both the Harvard chapter and the statewide organization of YAF would probably decide to form a peaceful barricade against the NAC on Tuesday.

David Horan of the M. I. T. chapter said that YAF ruled out the barricade because "it might lead to trouble."

Horan estimated that at least 50 people would work peacefully for YAF. "There is a growing reaction against the NAC. We intend to capitalize on the disgust in nonviolent ways" he said.

Laszlo Pasztor '73 of Harvard-Radcliffe YAF said yesterday that about twelve members from Harvard will assist in the picket at M. I. T.

Richard Kline, charter member of the M. I. T. chapter said that YAF will attend the NAC rally at M. I. T, at noon on Tuesday "to make our voices heard." He added that Harvard members will hold a meeting today or Tuesday with the YAF lawyer to find out their rights as students.

"Both officially and unofficially the YAF is not planning to initiate violence. But if someone hits me, I'll hit back," Kline said.
