Where Will It End?

Mrs. Martin Luther King threw out the first ball in Atlanta yesterday, and Braves catcher Bob Didier dropped it. The rest of his teammates followed his example throughout the game, helping the Mets, one of the big surprises in baseball this year, to win the second game of the playoff, 11-6.

Atlanta put together an exhilirating five-run rally in the fifth inning, but it did little good since the Braves had already spotted New York a 9-0 lead. And the Braves have now spotted the Mets a 2-0 advantage in the best of five series, which resumes this afternoon in New York.

The Minnesota Twins failed in the clutch once again yesterday, and the Orioles are now up, 2-0. Reserve outfielder Curt Motten lined a single into centerfield with two outs in the 11th inning, and Boog Powell crossed the plate to give the Orioles a 1-0 victory.
