The Harvard sailing team defeated eleven other colleges to win the Hoyt Trophy in a Sunday regatta at Brown. Harvard secured the victory on the eighth and final race, edging Brown, 20-21.

Harvard and the Bruins entered the final race tied with 19 points apiece. But Joe Worth nosed out his Brown opponent at the finish to win the regatta for the Crimson.

Sailing for Harvard were Abbott Reeve and Philip De Normandie in A Division, while Jeffrey Padnes and Worth represented the Crimson in B Division. Worth won his division and was low point skipper for the regatta. Reeve finished second in A division.

The win at Brown came on the heels of a Saturday victory over M.I.T. and three other schools at Harvard. Harvard edged the Engineers. 18 1/2-20.

Second-Best

Radcliffe sailors had to settle for second place behind M.I.T. Sunday in the M.I.T. Women's Invitational Regatta. M.I.T. topped the Cliffie sailors. 72-80, while Boston University finished third with 99 points. The regatta was held on the Charles River Basin. the site of Radcliffe's victory in the Women's National Intercollegiate Sailing Championship last June.

Completing the weekend competition, the Harvard freshmen out-sailed M.I.T., 26-27, to win a five-school regatta at Tufts Sunday.
