John Lennon of the Beatles has turned down an invitation to come to the Harvard Summer School for one week this summer to "perform and be seen," according to Thomas E. Crooks '49, director of the Summer School.
Crooks, who sent Lennon the invitation, said that the sometime author and actor declined because of "previous commitments."
Crooks is enthusiastic, however, about arrangements he has made with other famous artists to come to the Summer School. In the heat of the summer, he said, students and Faculty are more interested in musical performance than in musical scholarship.
