Chatterton Voted Matman Captain

Harvard's Varsity wrestlers may still be coachless but they will at least have a captain for next season--junior standout Howie Chatterton.

Chatterton, who wrestled in the 167-pound class most of the year, compiled a 5-4 record on a team which managed to salvage only two of ten seasonal matches.

Departing coach Bob Pickett called Chatterton a "dedicated wrestler. He has improved steadily and should be outstanding next year."

Chatterton's career as a varsity grappler substantiates Coach Pickett's evaluation regarding his improvement. As a sophomore Chatterton won only two matches, while dropping three.

Although he could not claim any pins among his five victories this season, Chatterton often racked up wide point margins. Against M.I.T. he overwhelmed his opponent 20-3.

In addition to his winning record, Chatterton powered his way to a second place at the Coast Guard Academy Wrestling Tournament in December.

He also contributed one of the squad's four points at last week's Eastern Inter-collegiate Tournament with a first-round win.
