First Lady Professor Miss Cam Dead at 82

Helen Maud Cam, Harvard's first woman professor, died Friday in Orpington, Britain. She was 82 years old.

Miss Cam was the first to hold the Chair of Samuel Zemurray Jr. and Doris Z. Stone Radcliffe Professor. She taught courses in medieval English history.

In 1948, she became the first woman to attend morning chapel at Harvard since daily prayers began here in 1638.

Miss Cam was the author of several works including "Local Government in France and England," "Liberties and Communities in Medieval England," and "England Before Elizabeth."
