Just before game time in the NBC studio yesterday, the Harvard CRIMSON learned that the Yale Daily News was using a ringer on its College Bowl team.
The Eli quartet showed up, boasting a female--Charlotte (Chatzie) Kirk. Huddling in dressing room 9H4 of the RCA building, the CRIMSON squad quickly deduced that Miss Kirk could not be a legitimate Yalie, because Yale has as yet admitted no girls.
In the ensuing face-to-face confrontation, Miss Kirk broke down, and, weeping, confessed, "Yes, I go to Vassar." Her teammates, however, quickly added that she had been writing for the News all semester. The CRIMSON learned later from Daily chairman Alan Boles that Miss Kirk is chief of the Poughkeepsie Bureau.
College Bowl emcee Allen Ludden, who later admitted he was rooting for Yale, ruled that Chatzie was a bona fide Yalie.
The show may be seen on Channel 4 at 5:30 p.m. today.
