'Booters' Vargas Named to All-Ivy

Harvard junior Jaime Vargas in one of three repeaters on the coaches' 1967 All-Ivy soccer team announced over Christmas vacation. The junior from Bogota, Columbia, who led the Crimson in scoring while alternating between inside and center forward, finished second in the balloting for forwards behind Brown's Vic DeJong, another repeater.

Two Harvard seniors, inside Lutz Hoeppner and full back Dave Wright, were named to the second team, while center half Richie Hardy and left wing Scott Robertson were among 17 players accorded honorable mention.

In a departure from previous All-Ivy form, the coaches did not match players to specific positions, but rather voted for five forwards and five backs, disregarding halfback-fullback's distinctions.

Sophomore Steve Greenberg of Yale was selected goalie in a close race with Penn's Ted Isaacson, who won the honors last year. Brown's Pat Migliore, the third holdover from the 1966 team, and Penn's Lou Miller led the voting in the back category.

Robertson had been second-team All-Ivy as a sophomore and Hoeppner was honorable mention last year. Hardy is as sophomore.
