Princeton's basketball team will carry the Ivy League's hopes into the semifinals of the NCAA Eastern Regionals at College Park, Md., tonight. The fifth ranked Tigers (24-2) take on North Carolina (24-4), the number four team in the nation.
In the other semi-final game, ninth ranked B.C. (20-2) meets St. John's (22-3). St. John's upset B.C. last year in the first round of the NIT, so the Eagles will be gunning for revenge.
Princeton handed North Carolina its first defeat of the season, 91-81, early in January, John Haarlow, 6' 7" junior forward, led Princeton to that victory but he sprained an ankle in last Saturday's preliminary game against West Virginia and is a doubtful starter tonight.
Tonight's winners will play Saturday for the Eastern Regional championship. The Eastern winner will travel to Louisville, Ky., where the four regional champions will meet in the national semi-finals on March 24.
