Led by a powerful sabre contingent, Cornell clobbered Harvard's varsity fencers Saturday, 18-9.

The shellacking began with three first round sabre victories for Cornell, and continued virtually unabated until the Crimson put together four consecutive wins in foil and epee in the last round.

Sabre was a 9-0 disaster. Cornell's Micha Abeles ran his undefeated Ivy record up to 12 wins. Teammate Mike Marion, son of Harvard coach Edo Marion, also took three bouts to boost his Ivy total to 11 wins and one loss. Marion's only defeat was at the hands of Columbia's Eastern sabre champion. Frank Lowy.

Shining amidst the general gloom, the Crimson epee team took its first Ivy match of the year, 5-4. Junior Harry Jergesen swept three bouts, including a 5-4 decision over fellow all-Ivy Leaguer Don Sieja. Brian Keidan downed Cornell sophomore Vic Addonizio, 5-2, and Allen Lewis, 5-4.

Despite three wins by New England collegiate foil champion Tom Musliner, Harvard's foil team lost, 5-4. Musliner compiled impressive 5-1 scores twice. Senior Takashi Iwasawa took one bout.

Harvard is now 0-4 in the Ivy League and 7-6 overall. The Crimson faces a weak Brandeis squad at 7 p.m. tomorrow in the IAB.
