Harvard's freshman squash team opened its season yesterday with a dramatic 4-3 victory over Andover.

Eddie Altwood, Harvard's number four player, clinched the victory in the fifth and final game of the final match. With the team score deadlocked at three matches apiece, Altwood came from behind to win his games, 15-12, and give the Yardlings the victory. Charles Heckscher, Rick Burton and Dave Taylor registered the other Harvard victories.

In the number one singles match, Andover's Paul Brown overcame a brilliant early performance by Jaime Gonzales to defeat the Harvard freshman 11-15, 11-15, 15-10, 15-12, 15-12.

Fencers Win

The freshman fencing team got off to an encouraging start yesterday as the big three--Larry Cetrulo in saber, Tom Keller in foil, and Mark Irvings in epee--led Harvard to a 17-10 victory over M.I.T.

Keller was touched only once as he won all three of his bouts. Cetrulo won his first bout 5-0, but the second gave him trouble. Down 3-1 at one point, the big Yardling charged back to take the bout 5-4.

Irvings, in his first week of epee fencing, won his first two bouts, 5-2 and 5-4, but lost the third, 5-3.
