Krackerjacks, the hippy clothing emporium, is opening a new store closer to Harvard Square. The owner said yesterday that it will replace Williams clothing store on the corner of Mass. Avenue and Plympton Street in January.
Krackerjacks, which opened a year ago, has been a greater success than even the owners expected. The turning point, said Don Levy, co-owner with Alan Peterson, was the fantastic business they did at Christmas time. They were then able to open a combination Krackerjacks-Paraphernalia store in Hyannis, Cape Cod.
Levy explained that the new store will offer an expanded array of merchandise, including women's clothing. The old store will continue under the same management.
