The Harvard racketmen easily blanked inexperienced M.I.T., 9-0, on the Engineers home courts yesterday. Harvard's squash was so devastating, that M.I.T. could only win three single games in the whole match.
To begin the easy match, first men Anil Nayar and Rick Sterne easily swept their opponents, 3-0. The only trace of a challenge came on numbers three through five where Harvard players each dropped a game.
With Jose Gonzales sidelined with illness, Captain Craig Stapleton filled in at third man. He lost his second game, before winning 15-8, 15-12, 15-12.
Matt Hall played number four and easily mastered his opponent in four games, 15-14, 15-10, 10-15, 15-7. Gordie Black at number five also dropped his third game, but bounced back to finish his match with a 15-3 win in the fourth game.
Yoshi Akabane, John Harwood, and Michel Scheinmann at sixth, seventh, and eighth all breezed through their matches, 3-0.
Attacking his first varsity challenge, sophomore Fritz Hobbs put together a 3-0 win. Hobbs started slowly, but dominated the next two games for a 17-14, 15-5, 15-11 victory.
John Whitback played an uncounted tenth match and won 3-0.
