Parietals will no longer be shortened on Saturday nights in Houses having dances or other social functions.

The Committee on the Houses approved a resolution Wednesday which said that parietals would no longer be affected by other student activities. The change will take effect immediately.

According to Richard T. Gill '48, Master of Leverett House, the resolution was proposed during a discussion of parietal restrictions for Spring Weekend. The Committee immediately decided not to restrict the hours students may have women in their rooms during Spring Weekend.

Masters then decided that there was no good reason for having this restriction at all, and it was abolished completely. Gill added that he thought the change merely rationalized the system but was not really a significant modification.

Little Time

Committee spent very little time in discussion of this proposal and the adoption was "almost unanimous," Gill said.

James D. Sacco '67, chairman of the Lowell House Committee, said he did not think the House dances would be affected the past, dances in one House have not been affected by parietals in another House, Sacco said. For this reason, the presence of visiting hours for women in the same House should not depress attendance at House dances, he explained.
