Craig Stapleton of Leverett House and Englewood, Colo., has been named captain of next year's squash team, and Bob Damus of Quincy House and San Bernardino, Calif., will be captain of the fencing

Stapleton, a two-year letterman for Jack Barnaby's squash team, played number nine as a sophomore and then moved up to the sixth slot this season. He was the only sophomore to gain a starting position two years ago. As a freshman, Stapleton played number one and captained his team.

Clutch Performer

He turned in clutch performances for the Crimson in the crucial matches of this season. In the 5-4 loss to Princeton, he rallied from a 2-1 deficit to defeat Tiger Bill Reed; at Yale, in the match which decided the national team championship, he contributed to Harvard's 6-3 victory by downing Eli Dan Badger, 3-1.

A midfielder on the varsity lacrosse team during the spring season. Stapleton succeeds Dinny Adams as captain of a team which has won five consecutive Ivy and national intercollegiate team championships.

Damus Closes Well

Damus, a two-year letterman in sabre on the fencing team, finished the season strongly after a slow start. In the Eastern Championships at the close of the season he won six of 10 bouts in the sabre division, but just missed qualifying for the finals.

Damus succeeds Ric Kolombatovich, who captained a squad which compiled an 11-6 record. The Crimson was 1-4 in Ivy matches, losing two 14-13 decisions.
