Harvard's basketball team will conclude its season, and six Harvard seniors will end their varsity careers, when the Crimson basketball team plays at Dartmouth tonight.
The Indians have a phenomenally inept squad. Winless in the Ivy League, their overall season record is 3-20. When Dartmouth played in the LAB during January, Harvard scored a 74-70 victory. The Crimson should have an easier time tonight.
Dartmouth is a fairly tall quintet, but they have no devastating scoring punch. Their leading scorer is forward Pete Dunlop, with a `5.8 average; center Gunnar Malm has a 12.6 average and leads the squad in rebounding.
Tonight's game will be the last for three Crimson starters-Keith Sedlacek, Barry Williams, and George Neville. Sedlacek has a chance to win the Ivy League scoring championship tonight. When tonight's game is over-even if he doesn't get a single point-Sedlacek will hold every scoring mark in the Harvard record book.
But Sedlacek's getting shut out isn't likely; in fact, if his jump shot is "on," he could have a phenomenal output. Last season. When Harvard ended its season at Dartmouth, the Crimson built up a comfortable early lead and spent the game feeding center Merle McClung, so he could set Harvard's single game scoring record. That might happen again.
The Ivy League championship should probably be determined tonight. Penn, with an 11.2 record, plays at Princeton, while Columbia (10-3) duels Cornell. A Penn loss coupled with a Lion victory-which would not be awfully surprising-would necessitate a playoff for the Ivy title.
