The Harvard freshman hockey team suffered its first loss of the season yesterday at Boston College, 5-3.

B.C. took the lead 37 seconds into the first period. But Dick Delaney, assisted by Jack Turco, tied the score after 31 seconds of the second quarter.

Sheehy, a high school record holder from Minnesota, scored for B.C. with an assist from Smythe at 2:15 in the second period. Then Harvard's George McNamama, with an assist from Ed Gallagher and Roy Coppadge, tied the score again.

B.C. rallied in the last period with goals by Sullivan, Smythe, and Coyne, raising the margin to 5-2.

With 26 seconds remaining in the game, Harvard's Ed Gallagher drove the puck home unassisted.

Crimson goalie Peter Meehan made 25 saves -- 7 in the first period, 6 in the second, and 12 in the third. B.C.'s goalie also registered 25 saves.

The Yardlings last year played the B.C. freshmen twice, lost the first time, but won the second. The teams are scheduled to meet again this season on Jan. 11.

"Boston College is a pretty good out it, but they've not invincible," Coach Nat Harris, said last night.

JV's Triumph

Harvard's JV hockey team registered a come-from-behind win over the Boston College JV at Watson Rink yesterday afternoon. Down 6-2 with ten minutes left in the game, the skaters of Coach James Hutchinson rallied for five goals to pull out a 7-6 victory. The line of Oakley Brooks, John Bemis, and Tony Kotnik accounted for four of the five tallies, with Captain Brooks personally registering three.

The JV also has a win over Boston University to its credit, and last Wednesday was leading Brown, 8-3, at Providence in a game that was shortened by boredom.
