The Dunster House touch football team shut out Eliot's lumbering Elephants yesterday, 51-0, in a sparkling show of offensive speed and defensive alertness.
The victory over previously unbeaten Eliot throws Dunster into a three-way tie for the House touch football title with Eliot and Quincy.
Dunster's defense shocked the Finleymen by intercepting Eliot's first three passes and returning each of them for touchdowns. By the time the offense got its hands on the ball, the Dunsters had a 20 point cushion.
Led by safeties Hoyt Taylor and Paul Nelson, the Dunster defense picked off six errant Eliot passes and scored four TDs. Hard-charging veteran rusher Charlie Kimball kept a series of Eliot quarter-backs off balance all afternoon.
Razzle-Dazzle
Quarterback Taylor sparked Dunster's basketball-type offense with short passes to ends Nelson and Danny Kopans. Nelson scored two touchdowns, Graham Patterson scored three on defense, and even stalwart center Rich Friedell picked up two touchdowns and a pair of extra points.
Eliot and Quincy both completed their schedules yesterday, while Dunster still has to beat Lowell today to preserve the three-way tie.
Quincy House had defeated Dunster early in the fall on a last-second touchdown pass, but had lost its bid for an undefeated season by losing 12-6 to Eliot.
