Hardin Prevails As Brown Beats Harriers, 22-33

Harvard's sophomore flash Doug Hardin won his fourth straight cross-country race yesterday. And he did it by breaking the old Brown course record by nearly a minute and a half.

But, as usual, Hardin couldn't do it all alone. Four Bruins in a row followed him across the finish line and Brown whipped the Crimson, 22-33.

Harvard harriers simply could not break up Brown's solid scoring punch. The Bruins' Chip Ennis--All Ivy last year--placed second, trailed by teammates George Bowman, John Coburn, and captain Jim Wich.

Jim Smith finished sixth for Harvard and the Crimson's Bob Stempson took seventh. Ailing captain Jim Baker followed a Bruin to take ninth, and sophomore surprise Tom McLoone was tenth to round out the Harvard scoring.
