Faculty Club's Building Plan Given the Nod

Plans for the expansion and renovation of the Harvard Faulty Club have been approved by the Harvard Corporation and the Council of Deans. The cost is estimated at $350,000

The renovation will involve primarily the enlargement of the Club's presently overcrowded dining room by 65 seats. The project will also provide total air-conditioning of the building, a passenger elevator, three additional small dining rooms, and two bedrooms.

Reconstruction of the building's exterior will begin in March, and "we are aiming for completion of the job by September," said Louis Loss, William Nelson Cromwell Professor of Law and president of the Managing Board of the Faculty Club.

Loss also said that it would be necessary to completely close the Club in June, one day after Commencement. During the Summer, all Faculty Club activities will be moved to Adams House.

Construction of the new wing will encroach on the small area that now serves as a ladies' waiting room. This will probably necessitate admitting women to the Faculty Club's main lounge for the first time, the Managing Board said.
