Swimmers Down Dartmouth 53-42

Bill Shrout and Bob Corris each won two events and led the varsity swimming team to a 53-42 victory over Dartmouth yesterday.

Shrout led teammate Pete Adams to a sweep of the 200-yard freestyle, as both bettered 1:50, and Shrout came back to win the 100 in 49.1. Corris led two sweeps: he and Henry Frey took the 200-yard individual medley, and Bruce Fowler followed him to the wall in the 200-yard breaststroke.

Dartmouth set out to upset the Crimson on the strength of star sprinter Brad Lindeblad. He swam the last leg of the 400-yard medley and touhed out Harvard's Jim Seubold, then tried to come back immediately and give Dartmouth a sweep in the 50-yard freestyle. But he tired on the last leg and lost second place to Bill Chase.

Neville Hayes won the 200-yard butterfly easily, and followed Adams home to give the Crimson a sweep in the 500-yard freestyle.
