Faculty Changes Sports Grouping

The Faculty Committee on Athletic Sports voted Monday to reclassify Harvard's major and minor sports.

Accepting a Harvard Undergraduate Ahletic Council report submitted in February, the FCAS classified golf, fencing, , and the 15 former major sports "Varsity Intercollegiate Sports."

Sports such as sailing and rifling will classified as "Intercollegiate Club sports." Others including rugby and will be "Club Sports."

The changes carry no immediate financial implications. Fencing and skiing no University money now, and was slated to receive some official before the report was adopted. member of the FCAS said after Monday's meeting, however, that he thought that Harvard would eventually underwrite three sports.
