Commencement Week may witness a Harvard first. The Marshals of the Class of 1965 have tentatively decided to stage a class play.
The play will be written, directed, produced, and performed entirely by seniors, and "will probably take the form of a comedy made up of four or five longish skits--their unifying theme being our four years at Harvard," George W. S. Trow '65, one of the prospective authors, said yesterday.
According to Fourth Class Marshal Jerry E. Mechling '65, "The play should have a lot of appeal because a great many people could be connected with it, with no one person having to sacrifice too much of his time."
Boat rides have been planned as entertainment in the past, but they did not seem to evoke much enthusiasm. "A trip like that can go over like a ton of lead. We think a play might inspire more participation," Mechling said. He emphasized that plans for the play are still unofficial, and must be confirmed by the Class Committee.
