Three 'Cliffe fencers shut out M.I.T. and rolled over Sargent College, but were foiled by Brandeis, Monday, in a quadrangular meet at Brandeis.
Sue Billings came through beautifully with her usual perfect score, winning all nine bouts she played. Sylvia Cox took six and Lynn Selker four, to give the Cliffies a 9-0 triumph against M.I.T., a 7-2 victory over Sargent, and a 3-6 loss to Brandeis.
The Cliffies swept their first match of the year at Wellesley on Feb. 16, over-coming Wellesley and Springfield, 9-0, and beating Brandeis 5-4. Miss Billings contributed nine wins in nine bouts and Dianna Bishop added a six out of six blitz, while Miss Selker and Miss Cox each won four out of six attempts.
At a Conn College sportsday last Saturday, Radcliffe piled up 18 points, holding Conn to 13 points and Pembroke to 5.
Radcliffe will hostess its next meet, with Bradford, Jackson, and Westbrook Junior College, Saturday at 1 p.m. in the Radcliffe gym.
But the real test of the year will come March 26 at Brandeis, during the New England Women's Intercollegiate Fencing Tournament, where the 'Cliffe will defend its two-year-old team championship. The Cliffles should have no trouble holding on to the victor's cup, however, since they are in exceptionally good shape after their practice with the Harvard varsity fencers last week.
