Masts to Dip in 5-Bridge Sail Race

There are no lift-bridges on the Charles, this has not deterred the Harvard Club from scheduling its first race the season over a course which passes under five bridges.

The race will begin at 2:30 p.m. today the Weld Boathouse, and will finish the Charles Basin. To alleviate the problem of passing under the bridges , the Yacht Club Race Committee partially ammended the standard rules to permit crows to lower their masts under bridges.

It should be a colorful sight as crews balance on the bows of the tippy Inter club Dinghies, lift the thirty-foot masts from their slots, and lower them to the decks. Ringside seats will be available on the Weeks Foot-Bridge for the first show.
