The Harvard Student Agencies, Inc., will publish a report designed to clear up the controversy over its charter flights agency. The HSA remains undecided, however, about which of its records--if any--to release.
H. Reed Ellis '65, whose motion to issue a report was passed at the last meeting of the HSA board of directors, and last night he intended the report to detail the financial operations of the charter flights agency.
But Charles H. Everill '65, a member of the committee set up to write the report, said he "didn't recall that as being the chief emphasis" of Ellis's motion. The other member of the committee, Dustin M. Burke '52, general manager of the HSA and Harold Rosenwald '27, general counsel for the HSA, were unavailable for comment.
'Unfair Criticism'
Everill said the report would try to answer "a great deal of unfair criticism" of the charter flights agency resulting from "ignorance" of the problem involved.
The committee will begin drafting the report this week. Virgil L. Archer '66, chairman of the HSA, said yesterday the committee will have "a fairly free hand" in writing the report, but the board of directors "can easily submit or delete items" when it considers the report sometime this month.
The HSA recently filed a complete financial accounting of its charter flights official after Dean Watson said he was agency with a group of Administration "very much disturbed by charges of illegal profits."
Entirely Satisfied
After reviewing the report, Watson, said he was "entirely satisfied" with the charter flights operation and that the agency's records would be kept secret.
But Archer indicated the report win probably contain whatever figures the board of directors feels are necessary to "clear the air" of criticism of the chartering agency. He said, however, that there is no clear agreement within the board as to what figures to release.
