Harvard MBTA Fire

A metal ash can cover thrown against the "third" rall in the Harvard MBTA station Saturday night produced six-foot flames and a station full of smoke.

No one was reported injured in the conflagration, which occured at 3:17 p.m. It took two-dozen firemen from six firetrucks to extinguish the blaze.

It was not known who threw the cover, although police believed that teenagers were responsible. MBTA trains were delayed for over a half-hour by the disturbance, at which time normal service was resumed.
