Harvard's hockey team overpowered the St. Nicholas Hockey Club for the first period and a half, and then coasted sloppily to a 4-0 whitewash in Watson Rink Saturday night.

Jack Garrity scored the Crimson's first goal, with an assist from Jorge Gonzalez, at 8:51 of the first period.

Less than three minutes later, Harvard's power play clicked again. Kevin Burke took a pass from Ed Zeliner behind the cage, skated around to the front, and scooped the puck by goalie Barry van Derbig.

Slick Passing

Slick Harvard passing kept the New Yorkers down until Gordon Price was called for tripping at 16:48 of the period. Thirty-five seconds later Chip Scammon lined him in the box and Harvard was saying four-against-six.

Burke, sophomore Kent Parrot, and captain Bob Clarke managed to stifle St. Nicholas for most of the penalty time, at one shot hit the post past Bill Fitzsimmons' outstretched skate. It was the great threat of the night by St. Nicholas.

Coach Cooney Welland experimented with three defensive duos instead of two, Ben Smith, normally a forward, played back. With 12 minutes gone in the second period, Smith stole the puck in his own territory and carried it all the way in the St. Nicholas end. Right in front the net Smith pushed a pass to Party who slapped in the final Crimson tally.
