Heavyweight Tack Chace decisioned Franklin and Marshall's hulking Bill Schneiderman to preserve a fragile Harvard lead and give the Crimson a 19-13 win over F&M Saturday at the IAB.

Harvard cancelled an 8-5 deficit after four matches as the powerful middle of the Crimson lineup ground out three straight victories. Ed Franquemont downed the Diplomats Steve Sinatra 5 to 1 at 152. Paul Padlak scored an 8-1 decision over Jim Kaufman at 160, and Chris Wickens' two points for riding time enabled him to edge Rich Johnson 5 to 4 at 167.

Mike Graae, a senior who saw little action in the past two years, replaced injured Crimson captain Tom Gilmore at 137 and tied Neil Thompson 11 to 11 in a helter-skelter brawl. Phil Emmi, himself a substitute for Howie Durfee at 145, lost 5 to 3 to F&M's Jim Clair on riding time.

At 177, the Crimson's Jeff Grant and Dave Leham of Franklin and Marshall drew 3 to 3. The Diplomats' Bruce Leonard topped Bill Malugen 11 to 3 at 191 to cut the Harvard lead to 16 to 13 before Chace wrapped it up. The win was Harvard's second without a loss and sends the Crimson into the Ivy League season as the most likely challenger to champion Cornell.
