The Naval Academy swimming team has only beaten Harvard once. But it wouldn't take much for the IAB's land-locked minnows to drop their second straight this season when they swim at Annapolis today.
The contest could be a replica of the Crimson's 51-44 loss last week to Army. The two military academies have identical strengths. They are both well-balanced and possess unusual depth in the sprints. Both are week only in areas where the Crimson does not excel
A Tight Ship
Navy memories are short if they don't recall last year, when Harvard upset the Middies, 62-33. At that time Navy was rated the most likely to finish second behind the Don Schollander Swim Club, i.e. Yale. Intending to fly by Harvard on their way to the crucial Army meet. Navy instead met with misfortune. Today they are liable to be more attentive to their task.
The Crimson's sure point-getters, free styler Bill Shrout and butterflyer Neville Hayes, have been bothered by illness this week. Shrout has not practiced for two days. In a meet as close as this one is likely to be, Shrout and Hayes will have to swim extra races. They failed to have enough reserve strength to beat Army; they had best have it against Navy.
