Service Presses Pamphlet Inquiry

Secret Service officials made no headway yesterday in the investigation of pamphlets urging the assassination of President Johnson. The pamphlets, found in Wakefield on Thursday, were signed by an organization called the Harvard Council for Restoring U.S. Democracy.

The Washington headquarters of the Service was reportedly "quite upset" over the mimeographed pamphlets because "mass distribution was obviously planned for them," a Wakefield source said yesterday.

More Leads

Secret Service agents also investigated a report by a Stoneham schoolgirl that she had found another of the pamphlets. Stoneham is one mile east of Wakefield. Agents were also following up leads in two other Massachusetts communities.

The pamphlets are receiving national publicity as is Harvard's denial of any knowledge of the organization involved.
