The Ivy League received a boost it prestige yesterday when Dartmouth was named winner of the Lambert Trophy as the East's best football team and Princeton placed second.
Harvard was ninth in the voting, behind Syracuse, Navy, Penn State, Army Boston College, and Colgate.
The undefeated Indians are the first Ivy League team to win the trophy out-right since Princeton won in 1951. Yale tied for the honor in 1960.
Dartmouth received 119 points in the balloting, collecting 11 votes for first place and 1 for second. Princeton gathered 103 points and Syracuse 102.
Coach Bob Blackman added to Dartmouth's post-season laurels when he was named New England Coach-of-the-Year for the third time.
