Track star Sammy Robinson may start in place of Wally Grant at right halfback Saturday when Harvard faces Penn.
Coach John Yovicsin said yesterday that he wants to see how Robinson will perform in a starting role. The junior quarter miler was sent in late in the game against Tufts and dashed 89 yards for a touchdown that was called back by a holding penalty.
Robinson ran at right halfback in preseason scrimmages while Grant was sidelined by a shoulder injury. He ran impressively and showed ability as a pass receiver but occasionally had trouble with fumbles.
Yovicsin said Grant, the team's leading ground gainer for two years, wasn't being benched for bad play. "We just want to see how Robinson looks," he said. "Grant will play a lot of football Saturday."
