The Harvard-Radcliffe United Ministry has sent identical telegrams to President Johnson, Attorney General Nicholas Katzenbach, and Congressional leaders condemning the "indiscriminate charges of Communism" levelled against recent protestors of U.S. policy.
"We strongly affirm the right of all citizens to express their dissent from government policy without such action reflecting on the loyalty," the statement read.
The telegram also urged those men subject to the draft to accept the call or claim deferment as conscientious objectors, or be willing to accept the legal consequences of their refusal to serve.
