Varsity Squash Team Beats Dartmouth, 9-0

The Harvard squash team marched to its 26th consecutive win Saturday, defeating an inexperienced Dartmouth squad, 9-0 at Hemonway Gymnasium.

In the number one match, Harvard's Romer Holleran beat Richard Beams, 15-3, 15-5, 15-10. Number two man Terry Robinson followed by downing John Rapport, 15-7, 15-5, 15-10. All nine matches were won in three straight games.

The Dartmouth match constituted a dividing point in the season: It was the last match for Harvard before midyear exams, and from here on in, the opposition will stiffen considerably.

Thus far, the racketmen have won 50 of 54 individual contests, but with successive away matches against Penn and Princeton after exams. Harvard can expect little more than a split. The freshman squash team also defeated Dartmouth on Saturday, 9-0, for its fifth straight victory.

Prior to the match, the squad elected Jose Gonzalez as its captain. Gonzialez, now playing in the number two slot behind Rick Sterne, is the National Junior Squash Champion.
